![]() The game sure sounds like a hard M-rated game. Sounds like a M rated game like the previous ones. The main missions in the game take place on the ground, and the power of the power of the player increases when exposed to blood splatter. The Utautai (Songstress) are people who exhibit the ability to manipulate magic using songs. Ground combat missions and dragon aerial combat confirmed :pĬreative Director and Scenario: Yoko Taro Different dev though, hopefully it's more batshit al'a DK1 and less whatever that was DK2. The main forces of the Drakengard and Nier team are back too. Of all the flaws of that game, it actually did Caim pretty well. Now there's one series I never thought I'd see again. And then he gets a fairly somber death scene. He dies when you kill Angelus who is presently in an agony fueled mindless rage and thus wasn't really in her right mind. Heroes releasing a seal and it's revealed the guardian is their friend who is also immortal? Caim comes in, kicks Nowe's ass after toying with him for a while, kills the immortal dude so hard death dies, and is only stopped because the dying immortal dude shoved him off a cliff with the last of his strength. Heroes caught in meticulous trap led by one of the rising stars of the knights of the seal, and which is one of the most dangerous missions in the game? Caim shows up and the entire operation falls apart. Heroes being ambushed by trained assassins? Caim shows up and Legna the huge dragon has to dive in and save them (but not before he literally renders one of the part members into a PTSD-ridden wreck). Every time he shows up, everything for everyone else completely goes to shit. The first game established that he was an unstoppable, empire destroying badass, and he lives up to that hype. Y'know, on that subject, I will say that Drakengard 2 was actually very respectful of Caim. the columns keep getting in your way so trying to maneuver is very awkward when gabriel opens up to fire the laser you might not be able to get enough hits in depending on your position relative to him (being in front of him at all times is bad because he can charge you). not because it was all THAT hard, but the fight itself was kinda poorly designed. The worst gameplay moment for me so far is PROBABLY the gabriel fight at the end of branch a. camera becomes terrible anytime walls are involved, but at least I can say the base combat is better than Nie R's since there's on-the-fly weapon switching AND an actual combo system this time. Game is pretty sloppy on the technical side like most people said. The dialogue is genuinely funny most of the time, although the parodies/poking fun at JRPG tropes is hit or miss for me. i'm sure the dlc for the intoners helps but.they really should have included the novellas in the actual game as text segments like Nie R or something. I think my main problem is that i'd have to echo the complaint that the majority of the cast is pretty underdeveloped. So i actually bought this game (yeah i'm super late to the part). if i wasn't a sucker for grimdark stuff i probably wouldn't have been as entertained by it as i was.Įdited 19th Sep '14 5:34:05 PM by wehrmacht drakengard 1 is more like a really fascinating horrific spectacle than a legitimately good story. I'd agree that Nie R did the grimdark thing better than the first two Drakengards at least, especially the second considering it wasn't even that dark anyway (it also has the worst plot and characters in the entire series). the forest of dreams segments were probably as much of a cost-saving measure as anything else, but given their context in the game and the general presentation and translation they were some of the best parts of the game. ![]() ![]() i will give cavia some credit for the gameplay shifts though most of them were pretty shallow, but they were at least making an effort. With some more polish, it could have been a good combat system, but the lack of budget and expertise really put a damper on that. It's *functional*, but the gameplay is not what I could consider a strong point for Nie R. I mean, it's better than Drakengard's certainly, but that's not saying much. ![]() There's no lock-on, the combat feels clunky and there's not much depth to it.
